What we do

1

Contact Time

From there, the team heads often heads out for Contact Time— a time where the only agenda is to simply meet people where they are to build relationships, Whether that is eating together, praying together or simply hanging out.  These moments often reveal the needs within the community and open doors for deeper connection.

What we get up to each day

Each base is empowered to operate individually as they find best suited for the needs of there own communities however there are some practices which are core to all Every Life bases. A typical day may look like…

Seek First

Each day begins with Seek First, a dedicated hour for our team to gather in prayer and worship, giving our love to God, seeking his presence and direction for the day ahead. Practically this may look different from place to place and day to day but ultimately it’s about setting our hearts on Jesus, hearing the spirit and choosing to follow him.

Response, Development and Formation

The rest of the day is spent serving in their specific areas of expertise, with team members focusing on Response, Formation, or Development — each playing a part in bringing hope and transformation in practical and meaningful ways.

Other activities

Occasionally, we pause our regular rhythm for special moments — such as Encounter (worship in the community), baptisms, Nutrition Weeks, Hygiene Training, and more. These occasions offer a chance to come together, celebrate, and respond to specific needs, with God’s love at the heart of it all. At other times, we might pause to respond to unexpected crises, like flooding, offering practical support where it’s needed most.

Here’s an Index of all the initiatives we do in Every Life and which countries it applies to.

What we do (Maybe short term, long term, discipleship?)

Practically speaking we try to act out relational discipleship by doing three things. They’re three legs of a stool; all as important as each other, all supporting one another.

Resettlement

Development

Holistic discipleship means not only pursuing growth and health in a person’s spirit but also body, heart, and mind. What good does it do to say to someone, ‘have a good day, stay warm, and eat well’ if you don’t give them food and clothing?

Similarly, holistic support needs to both meet people’s immediate needs whilst also working with them towards a brighter future. As an international organisation, the short and long term needs of each community vary, but there’s always something practical that can be done. We call our short-term support (such as nutrition programmes, medical support, abuse intervention) our Response group and our long-term support (such as skills training, education, spiritual growth groups) our Development group.

Nutrition Program

Response

Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life to all who repent and believe. We preach this message to all who will listen because we can testify to the joy that it brings.

As the popular phrase goes, ‘preach the gospel always, use words if necessary.’ Time after time throughout Jesus’ ministry on earth we see the words he spoke testified to by his actions of love and power.

Social Work

Discipleship Groups

Formation

Jesus pointed to the miracles he did as evidence that his message was true. We believe that the Holy Spirit is working within his church today, equipping them with gifts of healing, prophecy, knowledge, miracles, and more.

When we take someone with burns on their arms to be treated at the hospital, we also pray for healing. When we work with families to resolve domestic abuse, we also pray for a renewal of hearts and minds. When we provide supplies/respite to those affected by flooding, we also pray for flood waters to recede.
